I am really excited about this post today, because it is the first I have ever done on skincare! Lately I have been fielding a lot of questions about my skin and what my facial routine is, which is interesting because I have always had a love/hate relationship with the status of my skin. I tend to scar very easily, and although I don't necessarily have acne I do tend to get some mean ones that stay for what seems like an eternity. I have tried every scrub, cleanser, toner, cream, and hippie treatment out there and I think I finally found the perfect combination of products for my skin.
I tend to have what would be considered as oily skin, but it does go through bouts where it will dry out completely and look like I have aged about 20 years. It has been a challenge finding the right balance for my face, including how often to wash it. I find that when my skin is irritated, the best thing for it is just to use a makeup removing towelette for sensitive skin and not actually wash it so that the natural oils have a change to do work. I typically use my skincare products every other day, or every third day but it varies for everyone, so if you try these products make sure to give them a good chance and find the balance that works for you!
The second product I use by them is called a Super Collagen Mask. On the website it states that it is for mature or sensitive skin, neither of which I have but it has been amazing for my face. It is a collagen and clay based mask that you apply in a thin layer all over your face and you can start to feel tightening within a minute or two. I typically leave it on for about 20 minutes, and use it 2-3 times a week depending on the status of my skin. I have noticed my skin feeling tighter and seems to have a healthier glow about it.
Okay, on to the Skeyndor line! I was recommended this product by a young woman who I have gone to a few times for facials. I told her my battle with skin products, and she told me to try the Aquatherm Delicate Cleansing Milk; which it a sensitive skin product. It is a very gentle, scentless cleanser that I use every other day after I remove my makeup. I really like it because my skin feels and looks clean without the redness, irritation or dryness that most products tend to cause. I have also noticed that it has helped balance the oils in my skin, which is also a huge bonus!
The next product by Skeyndor that I absolutely swear by is called Corrective; it is an instant wrinkle filler cream. The product fills in your deep wrinkles, and softens expression lines around your mouth and eyes.. (think crows feet!!) and it actually works. I use this every night, whether I wash my face with the cleanser or not. You simply apply a thin layer over your face and neck, and then massage it in like lotion. I noticed my expression lines around my eyes begin to soften after about 2 weeks of using it regularly, and it is worth every penny.
And last but not least; Bio Oil. Now, if you have any type of stretch marks, acne scarring, or scarring in general and haven't heard/used Bio Oil then you must be living in a cave. You can pick this up at pretty much any grocery store beauty department (Walmart, Target, Shoppers Drug Mart, etc) and it is really affordable. This oil has really helped reduce the colour and texture in the fine acne scars that I have, as well as my C-Section scar and it has even improved the areas of my skin that have uneven tones. I used it pretty regularly, but typically do it in the morning after I shower and give it about an hour before I will apply my makeup. The best part? It's hypo-allergenic for all of you who are sensitive to oils, and it has no scent.
So this is my routine, and obviously it is not something that will work for everyone but I definitely suggest trying out one or two of these products to see for yourself! It is amazing how much confidence you find when you are no longer worried about your complexion :)
I love feed back, so let me know what you've tried that works for you and your experiences with the products I have suggest above!!
